Meeting Virginia and Bordeaux Wine Expert and Wine Blogger Allan Liska, USA

Allan Liska is somebody in the internet world of wine I follow closely. I was very happy to spend a full day with him, when he organized a day trip to 3 Virginia wineries for a visiting joint friend - Lindsay Morriss from Rhode Island . This gave me a chance to get to know him a bit better.

I just spent 4 months in Europe and Africa - Germany, Italy and France plus Madagascar mainly -and naturally my postings have had a strong European touch. This will change in the coming months, as I am spending the period March - May in Northern Virginia in the US. I am looking forward to many tastings with Allan.

CellarBlog, Virginia Wine Meet-up, Bordeaux

Allan Liska runs the wine blog  CellarBlog, which focuses on wines from Virginia, where he lives, and on wines from Bordeaux, where he probably would want to live and frequently travels. CellarBlog is currently in the US ranking among the top 20 US wine blogs (Wikio/ebuzzing ranking). Allan also runs a Virginia wine Meet-up group, of which I am a member. Allan is well connected in the Virginia and in the Bordeaux wine industry.

I appreciate very much his kindness and his strong knowledge when it comes to wine in general and to the wines of Virginia and of Bordeaux in particular. Over the years, Allan has developed close relationships to a number of wineries from Virginia, such as Fabbioli Cellars and Breaux Vineyards, which we visited on the tour with Lindsay Morriss, but also to Estates in Bordeaux, such as Chateau Brane-Cantenac, the wines of which he presented with owner Henri Lurton at a tasting in Virginia not so long ago.

While Allan spends his money on wine, he makes his money as a Sales Engineer for Managed Security Services. Allan often talks about his son Bruce.
